As expected, Xiaomi has launched their current flagship, the Mi 4 in India for a price of Rs. 19,999 (~$320). The phone will go on sale on Flipkart from 10th February, with pre-registrations starting today, 6PM.
Sadly, the company is launching just the 16GB variant (and white only), and isn’t bringing the LTE version to India. Considering their big push for 4G with the launch of Redmi Note, it’s a bummer to get the non-LTE version of their flagship device.
The company announced their new line of flagship phablets under the Mi Note category earlier this month, and Mi 5 is at least a month away. The Mi 4 was launched in China in July last year, around the same time as the company launched the Mi 3 in India. The Mi 4 comes with a 5-inch Full HD display and is powered by a 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor and 3GB of RAM. The rear camera is a 13MP affair with Sony IMX214 f/1.8 sensor. Front facing camera is an 8 MegaPixel Sony CMOS sensor with Auto-focus.mi4

Xiaomi has had a dream run so far in the fastest growing smartphone market in the world. The company announced that they have sold over 1 million phones in less than 5 months since launch in August last year. That’s quite a number for a Chinese OEM just starting its business in India.
The Mi 4 takes on the OnePlus One which carries similar hardware specs as well. The OnePlus One went on sale last month in India at Rs.21,999 for the 64GB variant. The Mi 4 comes in two variants – 16GB and 64GB. Although Mi 4 comes in both black and white colors, Xiaomi is launching only the White variant in India. At the launch event, Hugo Barra clarified that Xiaomi will bring the 64GB variant in the near future, without providing the actual date.
